Ndidi, Osimhen, Ekong win big at the Nigeria pitch award

Wilfred Ndidi, Leicester city and Super Eagles midfielder and Asisat Oshoala, Barcelona and Super Falcons win big at the just concluded 7th edition of the Nigeria pitch Awards. Ndidi emerged as the King of the pitch for year 2019 so also Oshoala, who emerged as the Queen of the pitch for the year 2019, reports searchsport.org

The award ceremony which was supposed to hold in March 2020 was shifted due to the covid-19 virus. The award which was later hold today, Tuesday 22 December 2020.

Other Super Eagles players who also won at the event includes, Daniel Akpeyi of Kaizer Chiefs and Watford defender, William Troost-Ekong. They emerged Goalkeeper of the year and Defender of the year respectively.

Victor Osimhen, Napoli and Super Eagles Striker emerged as the Striker of the year. Winning against Samuel Chukweze of Villarreal and Odion Ighalo of Manchester United.

Other categories sees NFF First Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi won the Sam Okwaraji Award for Commitment to Nigeria Football; Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr emerged Coach of the year for 2019; The biggest football club in Nigeria, Enyimba International emerged Team of the year and AITEO Group emerged Corporate Sponsor of Football Award for 2019.

The Governor of Delta State also won the Football Friendly Governor for the second year, His Excellency Ifeanyi Okowa while Lagos State emerged winner of the state win the Best Grassroots Football Development Programme.

Finally in the media category, Journalist of the year-print category goes to Johnny Edwards of The Punch while Olawale Adigun of Top Radio FM emerged winner of the Radio category.
